Negotiations presentation

Here is the file that explains compare/contrast style presentations.

Print it, read it, and bring it for Wednesday. You will need to organize effectively. PPT or Prezi presentations are welcome.

Think of a few things that you can compare -- things you really care about. You are helping others make a good choice. That is the goal.

Grades are out!

Be proud of yourself regardless of your grade. The class was just the beginning. Keep improving. :)

Watch this video

I think the key here is not that money is bad.  Rather, if you focus on the process of doing something you care about, you will become a master of it.  That is the only way to become a master of something.

Autobiographical presentation

Please print out this file... read it over.

Think of an experience that changed you.  It doesn't have to be super-dramatic, but the purpose (lesson learned), should be of use to the other students.  The key is that we learn from your experience.

Also, I'd like you to watch this video about success:

Notice how he says "To know what you want, to understand why you’re doing it, to dedicate every breath in your body to achieve. If you feel you have something to give, if you feel that your particular talent is worth developing or is worth caring for, then there is nothing you can’t achieve."

Just wanting to be successful is not enough.  You have to find what it is that you have to give.

Think about that for your next presentation.  You experienced something in your life, and now you have a chance for us to re-live that experience with you.  You can also show us what you learned in that experience so that we are wiser...

Just meditate on that...

Discussions and Presentations for Friday 8/31

This is the video I want you to watch.  Sorry for the lo-res quality... Try to understand what he is saying...

You need to begin thinking about 3 qualities in yourself.  Hard-working, easy-going, like to challenge yourself, etc... Be honest.  Don't pretend you are something you are not.  This is not easy... meditate on this for a while.

Grades are out...!

Hello everyone...

The grades are out!  I see that the university wants me to give only 35% As for this class,   20% B+s and 45% Bs (and lower).  So 4 people have a B+...

I will go to the English Department to verify that this is in fact the correct for our class.

I have gone over the grades several times.  If you have a question I can tell you your final presentation score and ranking in the class out of 23 students.  No begging, please...  I finalize the scores on Thursday, so you have until Thursday morning to contact me...

If you have a B, you should be proud of yourself.  You did great in a competitive class.  Please don't feel bad.

Best,
David
